How does PRTG licensing actually work?
PRTG is licensed by the number of active sensors – a sensor being one monitored value (a port, a CPU core, a disk). Most devices need 5–10 sensors. Editions range from Freeware (100 sensors) up through large commercial tiers; environments above ~1,000 devices typically move to PRTG Enterprise Monitor. We’ll estimate your sensor count before you buy so the license fits the first time.
Is PRTG cheaper than open-source tools like Zabbix?
They’re different trade-offs. PRTG carries a license cost but is faster to deploy and lower-maintenance; Zabbix has no license fee but needs more engineering to run well. We work with both and will give you a straight comparison for your situation – no agenda.
Can you migrate us from another tool to PRTG?
Yes – including device mapping, alert-logic recreation, dashboard rebuilds, and validated parallel runs. We also migrate between PRTG editions (self-hosted ↔ Enterprise ↔ Hosted).
Can PRTG monitor our industrial/OT equipment?
